ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – After escaping a last inning rally to take a 6-5 victory in game one, the Blue Jays of Elizabethtown College (15-15, 8-7 Commonwealth Conference) cruised past baseball (7-22, 3-12) by the score of 7-1 in the second game to earn the sweep on Friday afternoon at Kevin Scott Boyd Stadium.
In game one, Elizabethtown jumped out to an early advantage in the first inning on an RBI double courtesy of Dillon Tagle. The Blue Jays continued to expand on their lead as they brought in two runs apiece in the third and fourth innings. Steve Motika brought in one in the third with a double to left center, and Andrew Gordon expanded the lead to 5-0 with an RBI single through the left side in the fourth.
Albright finally got on the board in the visiting fifth. With the bases loaded,
Tom Canuso walked to bring in
Collin Hecker. However, the Blue Jays got one run right back in the bottom half of the inning as Ian Smith hit an RBI single to expand the lead to 6-1.
The scoreboard remained the same until Albright's final at-bat in the seventh. With two outs, the Lions embarked on a furious rally.

Jojo Fischer then singled to center field to bring in two runs and cut the lead to 6-3. After
Jon Raymond was hit by a pitch to load the bases again,
Rob Mancinelli came through with another single that brought in two more to slash the deficit to one. However, the comeback would fall just short at
Matt Pannella grounded out to end the game.
E-Town's Matt Ruth earned the victory in game one. He threw five innings while giving up just three hits and one run. Paul Labe pitched the first five innings for Albright while giving up five earned runs. After Labe departed,
Kevin Thomas came in out of the bullpen to throw a hitless sixth inning.
In game two of the afternoon doubleheader, the Blue Jays again struck in the first inning as Motika doubled to left field to bring in Ryan Donahue. Elizabethtown then plated two runs in both the second and third innings to take a commanding 5-0 lead.
Raymond would put Albright on the board in the visiting fourth with an RBI groundout that brought in Fischer. However, the Lions couldn't muster another late rally, and the Blue Jays scored the final two runs of the game to take the series sweep.
In game two, E-Town's Rob Cressman shut down Albright in his six innings on the hill. He allowed six hits and one earned run.
Kevin O'Neill was handed the loss for the Lions.
Motika was the red-hot for the Blue Jays at the plate. He went 6-for-7 on the day with two RBIs and one run scored. Pat Mulligan was also impressive as he went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Albright was led offensively by the duo of Fischer and Canuso. Fischer went 3-for-7 in the two games with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Canuso went 3-for-6 with one RBI and one run scored.
Baseball returns to action on Monday when they travel to Susquehanna University for a non-conference game that is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
