In a battle of 2-0-1 teams, the Albright College women's soccer team had its chances but ultimately lost 3-0 to #19-ranked Dickinson, Saturday at Shirk Stadium.
The Lions held their own in the first half and created two great opportunities. Early on,
Jordan Cassidy played a beautiful through ball to
Erin Hand, whose shot was saved.
Meg Albright nearly scored on a corner late in the period but her shot was cleared off the line.
Midway through the first half, Dickinson freshman
Julia Thayer came off the bench and scored, forcing her way through an Albright defender and finishing in the lower left corner.
The Red Devils added a killer second goal just a minute and a half before the break, with
Marissa Kunkle heading in a corner kick from
Ashley Fields.

Allie Young had two great first chances in the span of a minute, shooting inches high in the 30th minute and then putting a curling shot just wide of the left post on the Red Devils' next attack.
Even though the nationally-ranked Red Devils all but put the game away with a third goal after halftime, the Lions kept pressing and continued to create shots.
Cassidy shot just wide in the 53rd minute, after a good combination with
Katie Cooper.
Alex Talbot tried a volley with the outside of her foot that nearly fooled the goalkeeper but was saved, and
Meg Albright was again denied after putting a shot on goal following a corner kick.

Olivia Giuliano made a nice tip save in the 74th minute. Giualiano saw an impressive scoreless streak of 384:50 (dating back to last season) ended after Dickinson's opening goal.
Albright (2-1-1) travels to face Goucher College on Wednesday.
