Freshman #
Chris Bucks# picked a great time to score his first career goal, banging home a cross in the 81st minute to push the Albright College men's soccer team past Penn State-Harrisburg, Thursday night at Shirk Stadium.
Senior
Adam Toroniewski set up Bucks' goal, getting free down the right side and sliding the ball back to his rookie teammate for an easy finish. Senior
David Folino had initially won possession for the Lions with a crunching slide tackle.
Sophomore
Tyler Waters gave Albright a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute, slotting into the far left corner after a nice through ball from Folino.
The hosts had two more great chances in the opening minutes. Just after Waters' goal,
Vitali Zaluha hit the crossbar but the offsides flag was already up; 35 seconds later, he beat the last defender but his shot was forced inches wide of the right post.
Zaluha had yet another opportunity midway through the opening half, but his breakaway off Waters' pass was smothered by Harrisburg goalkeeper
Josh Wolff. Wolff then made a nice stop after Folino volleyed Yost's free kick to his right post.
The Lions couldn't ride out their one-goal advantage however, as PSU-Harrisburg tied the game in the 68th minute. On a dangerous free kick, Nittany Lion junior
Dillon Sobilo took a smart quick kick that left teammate
Kyle Schneider in behind to beat Albright goalkeeper
Billy Howard.
Howard came up with a great sliding save on Sobilo in the 83rd minute to prevent overtime. Howard also saved
Nana Nyanteyki earlier, with Albright defender
Austin Marich there to clear a very dangerous rebound.
The Lions improve to 3-1 with the victory and will host Penn State-Berks next Tuesday, their second of five consecutive home games.
