Despite outshooting their opponents 14-8, the Albright College men's soccer team fell victim a second half goal in a 1-0 loss to DeSales, Wednesday at Shirk Stadium.

DSU's Jonathan Balfour recorded the game's only tally in the 61st minute, slotting home from the right side off an assist from Matt Murphy.

Albright's Tyler Waters had a great chance in the second half, volleying a partially cleared corner from the top of the box and forcing a nice save from DeSales' Colin Sulpizio.

Lions goalkeeper Ryan Barr (three saves) made his first appearance of the season and made a nice stop early on, blocking Derek Long's breakaway after an unlucky deflection fell to him in behind the Albright defense.

The hosts continued to have their opportunities, as Tom Villani ran onto a ball late in the first half but was saved, and Waters made a nice cut to cross up his defender in the second half before putting his shot well over the goal.

Each goalkeeper was whistled for handling the ball outside the box in a strange sequence that saw both spared of cards. Sulpizio lost his bearings and caught the ball well out of his area in the 43rd minute, but Yost put the ensuing free kick over the bar.

After the DSU goal, freshman #Vitali Zaluha# played a nice pass to classmate #Chris Bucks#, who had it knocked away right into the path of Waters. Waters' shot was boxed away though by Sulpizio.

This was the first time all season that Albright was shut out, or even held to under two goals. The Lions fall to 5-3 and will begin Commonwealth Conference play on Saturday when they visit Arcadia.
