"PINK GAME" FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS:

The Lions will be holding their Second Annual “Pink Game” for Coaches vs. Cancer today. Tables will be set up featuring 50/50 raffles, a donation bucket, pink ribbon accessories, opportunities to sponsor the football team for each touchdown scored, informational hand-outs and more. Albright football players and cheerleaders will also be wearing pink items during the game in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

ALL-TIME SERIES:

The Lions lead the all-time series 15-6, and have won five straight against FDU dating back to 2006. Last season, Albright overcame a slow start to pull away with a 35-10 victory on Friday night in Madison, N.J.

HEAD COACHES:

John Marzka is in his sixth season as the Lions' head coach, with an overall record of 40-21. Brian Surace (2-13) took over the Devils last season, and now has a large number of freshman on the field as he develops his first full recruiting class.

WEBCASTS:

Albright will be video streaming live this weekend, with Bob McCool providing play-by-play. There is a single-game charge of $5.95 for the contest, but Albright fans can also purchase a three-month pass for $19.95 that covers all sports. The women's and men's soccer games vs. Elizabethtown at the conclusion of Saturday's football game will also be video streamed, with Steve Degler on the call.

MAC PICTURE:

Nationally-ranked Widener (5-0) continues to lead the way with a high-powered offense, but Lycoming (5-0) has quietly put themselves in outstanding position with victories over Delaware Valley, Lebanon Valley and Albright already on the books. Despite losing their opening two games, defending champion Delaware Valley is now 3-1 in MAC play and also very much in the championship picture.

ALBRIGHT OFFENSE:

Junior quarterback TJ Luddy has completed 62.9% of his passes for 817 yards, six TDs and six INTs. Returning All-American wide receiver Scott Pillar is again leading the MAC in receptions (41), and ranks second in receiving yards (449).

ALBRIGHT DEFENSE:

Despite being unable to stop Delaware Valley early in a 42-21 loss, the Lions defense made big plays late in the game. Senior linebacker Tim McCaffrey forced two fumbles, while junior Drew Peterson recorded his third interception of the season. Albright forced four fumbles overall in the contest; two were recovered by linebacker Matt Filosa, who returned one for a touchdown. For the season, six different Lions have forced fumbles.

ALBRIGHT SPECIAL TEAMS:

The usually-stellar Albright kicking game has struggled of late, missing three straight field goal attempts (all from 35 yards or longer). Luddy still ranks 15th in the nation in punting (40.8 ypa).

FDU OFFENSE:

A young Devils team features six freshmen on their offensive two-deep chart, including starting running back Craig Kimbrough (223 yards on 47 carries), who had originally enrolled at Albright. Dynamic junior wide receiver Anthony Fruncillo has 27 catches for 401 yards and a score; he has also rushed 21 times for 102 yards and attempted three passes.

FDU DEFENSE:

The FDU defense is also young, with seven more freshmen on the depth chart, including two starters- defensive end Ryan Rodriguez and safety Troy Scales. Junior and leading tackler Mike Mancino returns, and has 64 stops on the season.

FDU SPECIAL TEAMS:

The Devils have used a long list of kickers already this season. Seniors Mike Georgetti and Travis Mullen have each attempted two field goals and handled most kickoff duties. Junior Dan DiProfio and freshman Sean Gavin have each kicked off once. DiProfio, Georgetti and Gavin have all punted as well.

LIONS NEXT WEEK:

Next weekend is Homecoming, and Albright will host King's at 1 PM. A busy athletics weekend also features field hockey and the annual Hall of Fame inductions on Friday night, cross country's home invitational on Saturday morning, and home soccer games on Saturday evening.
