Thanks to three first half goals by the visitors, the Albright College men's soccer team fell to the Warriors of Lycoming by a final score of 3-1.
The Lions scored their goal by freshman Kiko Deleon from a cross to the back post, from junior
Tyler Waters.
After challenging Albright goalie
Austin Aldinger and blocking his clearance, the first goal of the game came from senior
Charlie Vess of Lycoming. Thirty minutes in, Warrior
Mike Krebs scored his first goal of the year with an assist from senior
Kory Barto, after following a rebound off the cross bar.
The Lions had several good attempts on Lycoming goalie
James Quinn. Both
Michael Reid and Waters had headers off of corner kicks. Junior
Fran Schmutz had a close shot from 30 yards out along the right side line, which Quinn had to jump and tip away.
The first half ended with a reverse of the Warriors' previous goal, as Krebs assisted Barto.
Schmutz began the second half with two more attempts from 30 yards out. The first resulted in a great diving save from Quinn; the second was wide.
Albright had a good attempt at goal off a long throw-in late in the game, resulting in a save. Waters also forced Quinn into a diving save with a shot to the near post.
Albright is now 7-5, with a record of 1-1 in the Commonwealth Conference. The Lions will travel to Hood College on Saturday.
