Box Score
The Albright College women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Lebanon Valley in the Commonwealth Conference quarterfinals, Wednesday in Annville, Pa.
The winning goal came in the 35th minute. A corner kick was partially cleared to
Heather Tran, whose shot was blocked. Senior
Nicole Snyder was the first to run onto the deflection, slotting it home to open the scoring.
The Lions had their best chance in the 60th minute.
Erin Hand beat a defender who slipped, and played it to
Stephanie Przybyszewski on a 2-on-1. The junior cut onto her preferred right foot, but the shot was right at LVC goalkeeper
Sami Young.
The Dutchmen added an insurance goal on a penalty kick in the final minutes, after Snyder was taken down on a counterattack with Albright throwing everyone forward.
On the first corner kick of the game, Albright's
Jordan Cassidy got a shot on goal following a scramble, with Young making a low, near-post save.
Soon after, LVC worked out of trouble and played Snyder in behind, with Lion freshman
Kelly Burian charging off her line to make a very good save.
18 minutes into the game, Albright senior
Alex Talbot cleared a ball off the line. A cross bounced through everyone to
Morgan Miller, all alone at the back post, but Talbot slid in to save a goal.
Snyder hit the crossbar right after halftime, with Miller heading the rebound into Burian's arms. Snyder would hit the woodwork again, later in the second half.
The Dutchmen had several chances to go up 2-0.
Amanda Douglass was in on a breakaway but shot wide of the far post. Three minutes later,
Lindi Crist ripped a hard shot that Burian punched over.
With Albright looking for a tying goal Hand almost played Cassidy in, but Young did well to come out and clear.
Mel Sullivan had a shot from 20 yards out, but it was saved.
Albright is 10-8 on the season, while LVC goes on to face defending champion Messiah in a semifinal on Friday. The Lions will now await ECAC selections on Monday to see if their season will continue.
