Box Score
The Albright College men's soccer team couldn't recover from a fluky goal in the opening minutes, falling 2-0 to visiting Arcadia on Tuesday night in a Commonwealth Conference encounter.
In the fourth minute,
Alex Wells hit a corner to the back post and
Alex Miller looped a header that dropped in a crowd right around the goal line. The ball was never properly cleared and the assistant referee ruled that it had gone over the line, giving the Knights a quick lead.
Despite some decent Lion chances, that goal stood up until the final minutes, when
Nick Morris counterattacked, crossed up one defender, and curled a nice shot into the far post to clinch the contest.
Albright's
Tyler Waters was active in the first half, playing a low cross into the six-yard box that just missed the foot of freshman
Kiko DeLeon. He then hit a hard shot that was deflected, but ended up right at Arcadia goalkeeper
Ryan Lantzy.
With 20 minutes to play, Albright's
Shawn Murphy cut past a defender, got to the left end line, and played a dangerous ball right in front of goal. Senior
Tom Villani came flying in, but put his touch wide of the post.
Wells hit the post in the second half, but the offsides flag was already up.
Joseph Bertucci then played Wells a great ball into the box, but the sophomore fired high from eight yards out.
Senior
Ryan Barr (1-2) made three saves for Albright, while Lantzy stopped four shots. The Lions are 8-6, 2-2 and will host Elizabethtown on Saturday night.
