Box Score
The Albright College women's soccer team was shut out on the road Thursday in the ECAC South quarterfinal round, losing 3-0 at Wilkes University.
The Lions trailed after just four minutes, as Wilkes'
Jana Martin beat her defender down the right side and crossed to
Erin Donnelly at the near post.
In the 13th minute, Martin hit a dangerous cross that was punched away by Albright goalkeeper
Kelly Burian. After the ensuing corner, Martin chested in a cross, but was called for offsides.
Albright's best first half chance came in the 17th minute, when
Stephanie Przybyszewski played a through ball to senior forward
Jordan Cassidy, whose low shot missed the far post.
Junior
Jena Muller served up a pair of dangerous crosses late in the first half but nothing came of it. Despite being out-played for portions of the opening period, the Lions made it to halftime down 1-0 after conceeding the early goal.
Down 2-0 in the 67th minute, Cassidy got to the touchline and laid a ball back to fellow senior
Alex Talbot. Her shot hit the corner of the crossbar however, and Przybyszewski put the rebound over from close range.
Freshman
Alexis Lorusso came into goal and made a nice diving save on
Brooke Edwards late in the game, but Wilkes chased down the rebound and scored the final tally of the contest.
Albright concludes its season with a record of 10-9 after qualifying for its second consecutive ECAC and Commonwealth Conference playoffs. Wilkes advances to the semifinals and will face host Swarthmore on Saturday morning.
