Women's Lacrosse Set for Inaugural Home Game

The Albright College women's lacrosse team will host Immaculata on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Shirk Stadium- the program's first-ever home game.

The Lions (1-1) won their inaugural game, 16-7 at Lancaster Bible on Monday, before a tough 12-10 loss at Hood yesterday.

Junior Kim Harkins has been on fire early, totaling 13 goals and two assists over two contests. Freshman Meghan Wilson has seven goals and team highs in ground balls (six), caused turnovers (three) and draw controls.

Harkins helped Albright jump out to a 3-0 lead in the Lions' opening game, and her goal 12 seconds in tied for third-fastest in NCAA Division III history.

Freshman goalie Arlena Diep has been solid, making 19 saves and compiling a save percentage of 50% and a 9.50 GAA.

Head coach Jen Willis is in her first season as head coach after three years as an assistant with Utica College. The new lacrosse program was established as part of a $1 million gift from the John K. Roessner III Trust.

Immaculata will be playing its first game in 2012 after a 5-11 record last season. The Mighty Macs lost three of their top four scorers from a year ago, but do return all-conference midfielder Emily Hallett (16 goals, 18 assists, 40 ground balls, 24 draw controls).

Other All-CSAC returners include sophomore Katie Cook (12 goals, eight assists, 18 ground balls) and defender Megan Chacosky (32 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers).

The Immaculata contest will be the first of three consecutive home games for the Lions, who host Ursinus on Tuesday and then Rosemont next Saturday.
