Muhlenberg scored 11 runs in the eighth and ninth innings to open up a previously close game as the Albright College baseball team fell 16-3, Thursday at Kelchner Field.
Sophomore
Collin Hecker was 2-for-4 and scored a run, while senior
Jon Raymond was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Both players tripled in the loss.
Muhlenberg opened the scoring in the top of the third, as
Brett Rosen led off with a triple.
Jimmy Cody singled him in and later came around on a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 visitor advantage.
After two more Mules run in the top of the fourth, Albright answered in kind in the bottom half of the stanza. Raymond's triple brought home
Nate Peiffer and
Gabe Santone sacrificed him in, making it 4-2 Muhlenberg.
Albright kept itself within two in bottom of the seventh, as Hecker tripled and then scored on a passed ball.
The wheels came off at that point, as the Mules tacked on four runs in the eighth and seven more in the ninth inning.
Nick Kennedy was 3-for-6 with a three-run homer for Muhlenberg. Rosen (2-3, triple, RBI, 4 runs) and
Nick Plinio (3-5, RBI, 3 runs) each crossed the plate on multiple occassions, as did Cody (2-5, 2 RBIs, 2 runs) and
John Scuderi (2-4, RBI, 2 runs).
Albright is 6-13 and hosts Rowan on Saturday at 1 PM. Muhlenberg improves to 14-4.
