Lions Beaten By Bears

Box Score

The Albright College women's lacrosse team played well for a quarter of the contest but was beaten at home by an experienced Ursinus Bears squad, 19-4 on Tuesday.

Junior Kim Harkins had three goals, while Meghan Wilson added one. Nicole Rohrbach won a game-high five draw controls.

Albright out-scored its opponents 4-3 over a span of almost 15 minutes in the first half, but couldn't record a goal otherwise. With 16:03 left in the period, Harkins scored to make it 7-1 on the Lions' first free position shot of the day.

Ursinus answered when a nice pass from Kitty Dawson was touched in by Kim Peifer. Harkins and Wilson soon scored back-to-back however, making it 9-3 Bears.

Tia Claxton had a great chance with 5:30 remaining in the first half, but was unlucky as her hard shot ripped off the post. Harkins soon scored after a nice fake on a free position however to keep Albright within six at 10-4. The Lions would fail to score again however.

Ursinus pushed its lead into double-digits on Peifer's goal early in the second half. The Lions played shorthanded for the final 12 minutes, and Emily Diehl and Lauren Garganio tallied to make the final scoreline 19-4.

Peifer, Amber Moyer, Megan Horney and Elizabeth Chatburn all had hat tricks for the Bears, while Diehl added two goals and four assists.

Albright is 2-2 overall and will host Rosemont College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
