The Albright College baseball team opened a crucial three-game series with Elizabethtown on Friday, losing 7-2 on the road.
Freshman
Max Dundore was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored to lead Albright.
Collin Hecker and
Dylan Boll were each 2-for-4.
Albright opened the scoring in the top of the first on
Tom Canuso's RBI-single that scored Dundore. The Blue Jays answered with one in the bottom of the frame.
Down 4-1 in the top of the fifth, Dundore doubled in
Alex Myers as Albright crept to within two runs.
Brian Verdelli's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning scored a big run for Elizabethtown however.
Senior
Matt Rehrig went 6.1 innings and allowed four earned runs, taking the loss and falling to 3-4 on the year.
Taras Latnaunchlyn (6-1) took the win for E'town, with
Matt Ruth going three one-hit innings for the save.
Tyler Weary was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and run for the Blue Jays.
Steve Motika was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while
Tim Rosser drew three walks and scored three times.
The Lions (10-19, 3-7) face an important doubleheader tomorrow against Elizabethtown, starting at noon on Kelchner Field.
