The Albright College baseball team scored 15 times in the sixth and 32 times in eight innings as the Lions blew out visiting Valley Forge Christian College, 32-8 on Monday at Kelchner Field.
The Red and White used 24 different players in the game and smashed 22 hits overall.
Freshman
John Medvecky hit a grand slam, while classmate
Ben Vitelli (1-for-5, 4 RBIs, 2 runs) also homered. Rookies
Max Dundore (4-6, 3 runs, RBI) and
Zac Okonski (3-6, 5 RBIs, 3 runs) came up big, as did sophomore
Collin Hecker (4-5, 4 RBIs, 3 runs).
Albright's pitchers struggled with control at times, walking 11 batters. Freshman
Alex Myers got the victory in relief after allowing just one hit over 3.1 innings of work.
Up 4-0 after one, the Patriots actually took a 5-4 lead in the top of the second, despite totaling just one hit in the frame.
The Lions answered right back in the bottom half of the second however, before batting around twice in a prolific sixth, with Medvecky's grand slam highlighting a 15-run outburst.
For VFCC,
Sam Sheesley was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while
Josh Strohm (1-6) knocked in three runs.
Albright is 12-20 overall, while the struggling Patriots drop to 3-23 on the year.
