Albright College senior Steve Werst has been rewarded for his success both on the course and in the classroom, earning the MAC Scholar-Athlete award for men's golf.

The award goes to one MAC senior in each sport with a minimum GPA of 3.2. The MAC Awards Committee bases selection on academic record (50%) and athletic prowess (50%).

Werst, a business administration major, has a GPA of 3.80. He is a member of the Dearden Business Honors Society and made the MAC Honor Roll.

In 2010, Werst placed second at the Commonwealth Conference golf championships, earning first team All-Conference honors. He has one career individual victory- in a 2011 match vs. Eastern.

Service and leadership was also taken into account, among other activities Werst is an Albright "POPS" peer orientation leader for incoming freshmen.
