Box Score
The Albright College men's soccer team scored twice in the first half to give themselves a big 2-1 victory at Lebanon Valley, Saturday in the Lions' Commonwealth Conference opener.
The goals came from junior
Tyler Waters and freshman
Kiko DeLeon, while freshman
Codey Short recorded an assist.
Short crossed a ball in the ninth minute that DeLeon collected in a crowd and finished, opening the scoring. Later in the first half, Waters headed in
Keegan Frick's free kick, giving Albright a 2-0 advantage.
Andrew Cooper pulled one back for the hosts in the second half, but the Lion defense and freshman goalie
Austin Aldinger (nine saves) held strong.
Aldinger made a pair of saves late in the first half to protect his side's 2-0 halftime advantage, denying
Matt Henley and
Octavio Romero. He then made three straight stops as LVC peppered the net with six shots in a six-minute span, early in the second period.
Stephen Simonian hit the crossbar in the 57th minute as the Dutchmen kept pressing, but they were kept at bay until Cooper scored in the 62nd minute.
LVC's
Cam Alexander had a look in the final seconds, but Aldinger held it as time quickly expired.
The Lions are 7-4, 1-0, and will to continue their bright conference start when they host Lycoming on Wednesday night.
