LIONS' FIRST MAC CHALLENGE:

The Lions will face their first Middle Atlantic Conference opponent this Saturday. Albright finished in the middle of the pack last season with a 4-4 record in the division, while Stevenson's first year in the conference resulted in a 1-7 mark. After an emphatic win over the Mustangs last season, the Lions will look to emerge victorious again and grab their win their first conference game of the season.

LIONS LAST WEEK:

Albright came from 19 points down to grab a 29-26 victory over Kean University. Despite missing 2011 due to an injury Ty Hughes came out with a bang, totaling 142 rushing yards and scoring three touchdowns. Also impressive was wide receiver Daniel McNair, catching six balls for 68 yards, including a touchdown reception.

ALBRIGHT OFFENSE:

Although they lost two All-Conference starters on offense from 2011, the experience of the Lions shined through. Senior quarterback Adam Galczynski came off the bench to lead Albright's comeback, directing the final three scoring drives and completing 7-of-8 passes. It is evident that Galczynski is pushing starter TJ Luddy, as the QB battle continues on. The offense looked bright, with 22 first downs to just 13 for Kean.

ALBRIGHT DEFENSE:

Matthew Hnatiuk, Tyler Hamlet and Matt Pattison each totaled five tackles, while senior captain JT Harding added a sack. Forced fumbles (by Ryan Ott and Matt Filosa) and interceptions (by Chris Stephens) helped lead to Kean's downfall.

ALBRIGHT SPECIAL TEAMS:

Special teams was a strength for the Lions last year and, despite some big plays from the Kean kick returners, there were bright spots again last week. Juniors Hnatiuk and Eric Wade each blocked extra points that ultimately allowed the Lions to go ahead on their final touchdown, instead of just kicking to force overtime. Malik Compton had three special teams tackles and Luddy stepped up in the punting department (6 punts, 41.2 average).

STEVENSON OFFENSE:

In a defeat to Shenandoah, Stevenson's offense totaled 344 yards (including 121 passing yards from quarterback Anthony Reid) and gained 14 first downs. Freshman running back K. K Smith ran for 122 yards, while Reid threw a 55-yard touchdown to classmate Anthony Smith.

STEVENSON DEFENSE:

Both Moses Anoh and Tim Campbell totaled 5.5 tackles against Shenandoah, while Anoh had a sack. The Mustangs' tackling showed their improvement from their first year, and they also added two interceptions (from junior Chris Newkirk and freshman Chris Loffic), after only having three picks all last season.

STEVENSON SPECIAL TEAMS:

Punter Charlie Cornell completed seven punts, averaging 36.4 yards. Cornell also converted his first field goal attempt of the season, from 27 yards, while Josh Summers kicked off four times for an average of 56.5 yards.
