The Albright College men's soccer team dropped an entertaining 4-2 decision on Homecoming, Saturday evening in Shirk Stadium.
Albright scored both their goals off second half corner kicks. The first went directly into the far corner from junior
Kenny Horning.
Vitali Zaluha then cut the LVC lead to 3-2 by heading in
Shawn Murphy's corner kick. The Dutchmen grabbed an insurance goal in the 69th minute however.
LVC scored three first half goals, all into the lower left corner.
Garth Stefan opened the scoring after a poor clearance in the eighth minute.
Cam Alexander then put a 25-yard free kick into the bottom corner in the 13th minute.
Gabe Stasyszyn later finished
Jon Kok's lay-off into the same spot.
The Lions' best chance of the first half came when Waters' shot was cleared off the line, with LVC goalie
James Clements smothering the senior's rebound.
It was Homecoming weekend, and a full day of events included a cross country meet and the Homecoming parade in the morning, a football game against Wilkes, and the women's/men's soccer doubleheader in the evening.
Lebanon Valley reached the 2012 Commonwealth Conference championship game and only lost 1-0 to eventual national champion Messiah, but had come into Shirk Stadium winless in four 2013 league matches.
Albright beat LVC 2-1 last year, getting nine saves from
Austin Aldinger. Waters and
Kiko DeLeon scored the goals for the Red and White in that victory.
Albright is now 4-9-2, 0-4-1 and will host Widener on Tuesday. Free video streaming of the Widener match, with play-by-play from
