At the twenty five minute mark, Widener nearly capitalized on an Albright defensive miscue, but
Amanda Doran sent the ball off the post and the defense was able to recover and clear the loose ball.
The remainder of the first half consisted of several scoring opportunities for both teams, but neither were able to finish the job.
Sousa nearly broke the game's 1-1 deadlock at the 65th minute mark when she outhustled the Widener defense, but
Valarie Perretti was able to deny her shot.
Widener's final chance in regulation came on a
Karen Thomas blast from inside the eighteen that was saved by
Alexis Lorusso and played out of bounds.
Just minutes into the first overtime session, Sartorio almost ended the game off of a
Suzanne Kuhrmann free kick, but sent a contested shot just wide of the net.
The final opportunity to end the roughly 90 minute scoring drought came as Sousa was fouled just outside the eighteen with under two seconds left in the second overtime period.
Mel Sullivan was awarded a free kick and sent a bullet to the far corner that went just wide as time expired.
After a hard-fought 110 minute defensive battle, the game ended in a draw despite thrilling action from both teams.
