Following their shutout loss to Goucher College on Wednesday, the Albright College women's soccer team's scoring woes continued today as they were shutout once again at Elizabethtown College by a score of 5-0.
The Blue Jays scored early and often, setting an aggressive offensive pace that the Lions were unable to match.
Sixteen minutes into the first half,
Lauren Berry scored off of a crossing pass from her teammate
Kacey Cerankowski to put Elizabethtown in front 1-0.
Elizabethtown's
Deanna Slater,
Kendra Mancino, and
Callie McClanahan each netted goals in the first half to take a commanding 4-0 lead.
The Lions were able to hold Elizabethtown to just one goal in the second half, a free kick by
Trisha Clark, but they weren't able to put themselves on the scoreboard to mount a comeback.
With today's tough defeat, Albright falls to 4-5-1, 0-1 while Elizabethtown improves to 6-4, 1-0 on the season.
Albright's next chance at returning to the .500 mark will come Wednesday, as the team travels to Arcadia University for a 7 p.m. Commonwealth Conference matchup.
