Box Score
The Albright College women's lacrosse team took the field for the first time in the 2013 season and used a 17 goal first half to fuel a 20-4 victory over visiting Lancaster Bible College on Saturday in Shirk Stadium.
Like their male counterparts, the Lady Lions used a balanced offense with nine different girls finding the back of the net throughout the 60 minutes.
Erin Farrell and
Amanda Smith were the go-to players for the Lady Lions in their first contest of the season. Farrell helped Albright secure their first victory of the season with seven points total (four goals and three assists). Smith was Albright's leading goal scorer on the day as the freshman was able to put the ball past Lancaster Bible's goalie five times.
Along with Farrell and Smith, Albright's victory was helped by
Rebecca Sartorio (two goals, one assist),
Meghan Wilson (two goals),
Rebecca Roman (one goal, one assist), Nicole Kluesewitz (two goals),
Tori Meyer (two goals, one assist),
Jordyn Kurtz (one goal), and
Nicole Rohrbach (one goal).
The second half featured considerably much less action than the first as the Lady Lions found themselves able to fall back into a stall offense with such a large lead after an explosive first 30 minutes. Farrell, Smith, and Wilson all found the back of the net during a slower paced second half.
In net for Albright, goalies
Kiersten Keehn and
Emily Hutson held the Chargers to only four goals on the day. Each goalie played one half of the game and was able to stop one shot.
The Red and White improve to 1-0 on the season and will continue the non-conference portion of their schedule as the Knights of Arcadia come to Shirk Stadium on Tuesday, March 5th. The first draw between the Lady Lions and Knights will be at 4 p.m.
