The Albright College men's lacrosse team overcame a slow start and pulled away in a 23-10 victory at Richard Stockton, on Wednesday night.
The Lions trailed 5-2 early in the second quarter, but scored nine times before halftime and ultimately finished the contest on a 21-5 run.
Sophomore
T.J. Holston had a huge day with nine points (five goals, four assists) for Albright. Classmate
Philip Potter added four goals and an assist, while
Ryan Turner (three goals, two assists) also had five points on the day.
Also scoring multiple points for the Red and White were
Dan Foote (hat trick), Andy Poitras (2g, 1a),
Mike Southwick (2g, 1a),
Dylan Heningburg (two goals) and
Justin Brown (goal, assist).
Sophomore
Darian Meador won 18-of-32 faceoffs and had a game-high 12 ground balls. Defensively,
Joe Devinney had six ground balls and
Cody Sandy forced a pair of turnovers.
Brown, Potter and Holston scored consecutive goals in the second quarter to tie the contest at 5-5.
Down 6-5 with four minutes left before halftime, the Lions tallied six times in the final 3:55 of the second. After goals from Holston (2), Southwick and Foote,
Eugene Isola pulled one back for Stockton. Then in the final 22 seconds, Turner scored and followed it up with an assist to Holston.
Albright kept rolling, out-scoring the Ospreys 6-1 in the third quarter to open up a 17-8 advantage.
Stockton had led 3-0 after eight-plus minutes, with goals from Isola,
Vincent Manasia and
Dan Lamela. After Potter struck twice for Albright, Richard Stockton closed the first period with goals from
Drew Wright (shorthanded) and
Nick Bologno.
The Lions improve to 5-1 and will travel to Neumann on Monday.
