Box Score
Outstanding pitching carried the Albright College baseball team to a 3-1 victory over Susquehanna, Tuesday in Selinsgrove, Pa.
Playing their first non-conference game in 13 days and throwing some lesser-used arms, four Lion pitchers combined to hold the Crusaders to just five hits and shut the hosts down until the final out of the night.
Seth Heffner (2 hits, 0 walks, 1 K) and
Dylan Price (1 hit, 0 walks, 1 K) each threw three shutout innings.
Ryan McGoff went 2.2 innings, before
Max Dundore got the final out for a save.
After a rough last outing on the field (13 errors in two games vs. LVC), the Albright defense was also outstanding, making 25 putouts in the field without an error.
Junior
Nate Peiffer was 3-for-5 at the plate, scoring one and bringing in a run as well. Freshman
David Cotellese was 1-for-3 with a run scored.
After Peiffer doubled in the top of the first,
Zachary Kiebler singled to left field to bring him home, putting Albright on the board.
The Lions added a run in the fifth, as
Collin Hecker came home on a wild pitch. Despite the run scored, Hecker (0-for-4) saw a 10-game hitting streak come to an end.
Peiffer's RBI single scored Cotellese for an insurance run in the top of the ninth. McGoff got the first two batters before Susquehanna finally scored, but Dundore got a ground out to shut the door.
Albright is 8-5 overall and will play at home the next two days- vs. Delaware Valley (Wednesday) and Elizabethtown (Thursday).
