The Albright College men's lacrosse team was eventually too much for the host Knights of Neumann, in an 11-4 Lion victory Tuesday night.
Sophomores
Ryan Turner (four goals) and TJ Holston (three goals, assist) each led the way with four points. Classmate
Justin Brown had two assists, while fellow second year players
Philip Potter and
Andrew Poitras had one of each.
Darian Meador was tough on faceoffs yet again, winning 13-of-19 draws. On the defensive end,
Joe Devinney had six ground balls.
Senior goalie
Jordan DiZenzo stopped an impressive 71.4% of the shots he faced, making 10 saves while allowing just four goals. He also picked up eight ground balls.
For the second consecutive road game, the Lions started slow. Albright trailed 2-0 after seven minutes of play, following goals from
Mark Campion and
Ryan O'Kane.
Albright would not concede another goal for 21:18 however, scoring five unanswered. Potter,
Johnny Moore and Holston gave the Lions a lead after one quarter, with Holston and
Matthew Lomady stretching the gap to 5-2.
After O'Kane made it 8-4 with 7:58 left in the third quarter, the Lion defense would shut Neumann down for the final 22:58 of the game.
Turner scored a hat trick over that shutout stretch, including one goal in the fourth quarter to push the final to 11-4.
The Lions are now 6-1, heading into their Commonwealth Conference opener at home on Thursday night vs. Hood.
