Second-year program Albright won its first-ever conference game, with a dominating second half display in a 24-7 victory at Hood.
The Lions led just 8-6 at the half but out-scored their opponents 16-1 after the break, including three strikes in the first 33 seconds.
Freshman
Erin Farrell had five goals and two assists, as did classmate
Rebecca Roman.
Amanda Smith,
Nicole Rohrbach and
Meghan Wilson each had four goals.
Tori Meyer had a goal and two assists, while
Rebecca Sartorio had one goal and one assist. The Lions won 23-of-33 draw controls, including 12 for Smith- a new school single-game record.
Wilson also added seven draw controls, while totaling five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Rohrbach, Farrell and Roman all scored in a 23-second span to give Albright an 11-6 advantage in the first minute of the second period.
The Lions kept coming, scoring three more times in a 50-second span (Sartorio, Rohrbach and Smith) to open up a double-digit lead at 17-7.
Hood had scored twice late in the first half to take surprise 5-4 lead after 21 minutes of play, but Farrell tied it up soon after and Lions led by two after Rohrback and Smith tallied just 10 seconds apart.
Albright improves to 7-1, 1-0, and will host local rival Alvernia on Wednesday.
