Men's Lacrosse Shoots Past Immaculata, 20-9

Box Score

The Albright College men's lacrosse team used lethal outside shooting to beat visiting Immaculata, 20-9 on Thursday night in Shirk Stadium.

Sophomore Ryan Turner had four goals and two assists, while classmate Phil Potter added three goals and two assists. Also adding a hat trick was T.J. Holston, while Darian Meador, Matthew Lomady and Nicholas Pisko scored twice each.

The Lions scored 16 times before halftime to take a 16-3 lead into the break. Turner opened the scoring 73 seconds in, after winning a ground ball in the offensive zone on a man advantage.

Holston made a nice move from behind the net to make it 2-1, and Lomady found Turner for a 3-1 lead.

The Lions brought their long-range shooting skills late in the first quarter. Holston was back on the field after serving a penalty and ripped a lefty shot from deep for a 5-1 lead. Meador won the ensuing faceoff and scored from far out for a 6-1 scoreline.

Turner hit the crossbar, but the Red and White kept firing, with Lomady hitting a nice rising shot for a 7-2 lead.

Albright goalie Andrew Torak got into the action, stopping Immaculata 3 with just 10 seconds left in the first quarter.

Bhelly Bagbonon scored for Immaculata early in the second half to cut the lead to 7-3. With 11:50 left in the second quarter, Turner hit the crossbar, the third pipe for the Lions already in the contest.

Potter soon finished from behind the goal for a 10-3 lead. Just 65 seconds later it was 12-3, after some nice team passing by Albright led to Dan Foote's goal off Potter's assist.

Pisko pushed the gap to double digits with 5:34 left in the second quarter, off a pass from Johnny Moore. Turner then brought it in all alone for a 14-3 Lion advantage.

Meador scored right off the faceoff, seven seconds into the third quarter. Freshman Mike Maxwell then snuck one inside the post from deep right for an 18-3 lead.

Meador won 16-of-18 faceoffs (88.9%) and picked up 14 ground balls, both of which are school records. He held both single game marks from last season.

The Lions are 2-1 on the season and face Medaille next week, during spring break.
