After 23+ minutes of action were wiped out yesterday, the Albright and Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse teams restarted on Thursday in Shirk Stadium, with LVC taking an 18-6 victory.
The contest was postponed with 6:34 left in the first half due to lightning on Wednesday night, with Lebanon Valley holding a 9-4 lead.
Freshman
Amanda Smith won the opening draw, and after some Lion possession she scored the opening goal at 29:14.
The rest of the first half was all LVC, as the Lions were held scoreless until the break. The Dutchmen won 10-of-14 draw controls in the first half en route to a 12-1 lead.
Smith led Albright with three goals, one assist and six draw controls. Sophomore
Meghan Wilson was held scoreless, after having two goals wiped off the board following Wednesday's cancellation.
LVC's
Hana Krechel lost two goals and three assists due to the postponement, but came back with a monster 11-point effort on eight goals and three assists.
Sophomore
Bailey Benz added seven points (two goals, five assists) for the Dutchmen, and
Tori Kuntz totaled four goals.
Sam Boyce hit the crossbar for Lebanon Valley five minutes in, off a pass on a free position attempt. Benz would also hit the bar later on for LVC.
Albright freshman goalie
Emily Hutson stoned Boyce point blank after a nice pass from Krechel early in the contest. She then made a nice save on
Mel Modrick, again following a Krechel pass from behind the goal.
Erin Farrell had a good chance for Albright with six minutes remaining in the first half, but was saved from the center.
The Lions ran off three straight goals early in the second half. Farrell put one in off the corner of the frame to make it 14-2. Hutson stoned Boyce on a free position shot and
Nicole Rohrbach scored at the other end, cutting past a defender after taking a pass from
Kelsea Guckin.
Smith barreled past a defender and bounced a shot in to cut the deficit to 14-4. Kuntz finally broke the Albright run with a goal for LVC.
Albright is 8-3, 2-2, and will host Stevenson on Saturday at 1 p.m.
