Box Score
The Albright College baseball team went down 20-3 to local rival Alvernia, before Friday's game was called six innings in due to rain.
Senior
Tyler Meckley was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, while sophomore
Gabe Santone went 2-for-3 as well.
Richie Ricciardi,
Kevin Bailey and
Cody Younker went back-to-back-to-back in the top of the fifth inning, putting Alvernia ahead 14-3.
Chris Ray had homered to score
Leon Stimpson in the top of the first, and two more runs came in before Okonski's unassisted fielder's choice ended a bases loaded threat.
Down 7-0 after Alvernia tacked on three more in the second, Albright got going a bit in the bottom of the frame.
Zac Okonski walked and Santone doubled, before
Alex Myers knocked in a run to get the Lions on the board. A pickoff helped the Crusaders avoid further damage.
After several nice defensive plays yesterday, Myers made a tough deep stab at shortstop to end the third inning.
Sophomore
Max Dundore led off the bottom of the third with a hard double, and scored on Meckley's hit.
Dylan Boll also had an RBI to make it 7-3, but the Lions would strand the bases loaded.
Albright falls to 12-17, 3-13 on the season; the Reading sides will play two tomorrow on Alvernia's campus.
