Box Score
The Albright College baseball team couldn't convert chances in the latter part of the game and Arcadia scored eight unanswered runs, Friday in an 8-5 Lion loss at Kelchner Field.
Sophomore
Max Dundore was 3-for-3 at the plate, knocking in two runs and scoring once. Classmate
Evan High was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Arcadia opened the first with a pair of baserunners, but a long shot went foul of the left field pole and
John Medvecky turned a 5-3 double-play to help Albright get out of the inning.
In the bottom of the second,
Dylan Boll walked and moved to third as High doubled off the diving third baseman's glove. Dundore singled both runs in.
The Lions kept coming as Dundore scored on Medvecky's sacrifice fly, and
Nate Peiffer tripled in
Gabe Santone. It was 5-0 after
Tyler Meckley's single brought Peiffer in.
The Knights responded with three runs in the top of the third. It could have been worse, but Peiffer cut off the throw to second on an attempted double-steal and caught the runner going home.
Arcadia loaded the bases in the fourth and left scoreless, but took a 6-5 lead after a three-run sixth that featured a trio of hit batsmen.
Brandon Martin and Nick Petroski each hit one to the warning track in the seventh, but Albright's
Collin Hecker ran both balls down. Peiffer and Zach Myers then turned a double play in the top of the eighth.
Santone was inches away from putting the Lions back in front in the bottom of the eighth, but his shot was caught at the wall with High standing on second base.
Zac Okonski pinch hit and drove hard ball up the middle, but Arcadia reliever
Jason Goldberg somehow knocked it down and then made the throw the first despite losing his glove in the process.
Elliott Freeman hit a solo homer to left field in the top of the ninth, giving the Knights an insurance run.
Albright falls to 10-10, 2-7 and faces Arcadia in a doubleheader on the road tomorrow.
