Box Score
The Albright College men's lacrosse team (9-1, 3-0 Commonwealth) rode the hot hands of goalie
Jordan DiZenzo and attack
Ryan Turner to their ninth straight victory, 17-8 over the visiting Warriors of Lycoming.
DiZenzo was able to run his shutout streak to 73:50 before an early Lyco goal ended the streak. Despite giving up his first goal in over an hour of action, DiZenzo was strong in net for the Lions. The senior tallied seven saves before being lifted in the second half with the victory in hand.
On the offensive side, sophomore Turner had an unbelievable day. Turner found the back of the net seven times (a school record) to go along with one assist for an eight point day to pace the Red and White. Fellow sophomores Phil Potter and
T.J. Holston added two goals apiece to help the Lions.
Lycoming dictated the pace early, jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead, but Albright was able to get on the board and cut the deficit in half after a sweet one timer by
Andrew Poitras from
Mike Southwick made the score 2-1.
Another Warriors goal would give them their biggest lead of the day at 3-1, but the Albright offense rattled off a 7-1 run, capped off by a Potter goal with under a second to play, to give the Lions a 8-4 lead at half.
The second half featured much of the same as the Albright offense did not rest.
Goals from Turner (six), sophomore
Justin Brown (one), and Holston (two) in the second half allowed the Lions to squash any hopes of a Lycoming comeback.
Sophomore
Darian Meador continued his face-off domination for the Lions, winning an outstanding 21-of-27, bringing his season average to .675.
Albright will go for the double digit win streak as they travel to Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday. Face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
