The Albright College went on an 8-1 run in the second half to overturn a one-goal deficit and defeat Lycoming, 13-9 on Saturday in Commonwealth Conference action.
Freshman
Rebecca Sartorio started the run at 24:53, and
Erin Farrell scored twice in a 28-second span to put Albright back ahead, 8-6.
After
Casey McGuire answered for Lycoming, five different Lions-
Meghan Wilson, Farrell, Sartorio,
Rebecca Roman and
Amanda Smith- all scored as Albright stretched its lead to 13-7, with 11:16 to play.
Smith finished with four goals and two assists, while Farrell also had four goals. Sartorio turned in a hat trick and picked up four ground balls, while Wilson had a goal and an assist and caused two turnovers.
The Warriors had led 6-5 at halftime after scoring four unanswered goals over the final 14:25 of the period.
Smith quickly staked Albright to a lead with two goals in 17 seconds. After she scored on the counterattack at 27:36, Wilson won the ensuing draw and fed her for another strike a 2-0 scoreline.
Less than six minutes into the action it was 3-0 Lions, as Farrell picked up a ground ball and went in for the goal.
Lyco got one back, but after a Roman free position shot was saved, the Lions kept possession and Sartorio converted to make it 4-1.
The same sequence happened exactly one minute later. Wilson was saved on a free position, but Smith grabbed the ground ball and scored for a 5-1 lead.
Freshman
Emily Hutson earned the win in goal, making eight saves.
Albright improves to 8-2, 2-1 and will host Lebanon Valley on Wednesday.
