An eight-run second inning put the Lions away early as the Albright College baseball team fell 17-8 to Moravian, Tuesday at Kelchner Field.
Sophomore
Zac Okonski was 3-for-3 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs scored off the bench. Sophomore
Dylan Boll was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, while
Collin Hecker and
Gabe Santone for each 2-for-4.
Albright starter
Seth Heffner got three quick groundouts in a six-pitch top of the first.
Joseph Connell singled in
Charles Savite and
Ryan Luke, and the Greyhounds pulled off two double-steals en route to an eight-run second inning. That included two fielder's choice plays, where the Lions threw home but couldn't get the runner.
Colin Case ripped a triple to the right-center gap that brought home
Alex Longernecker and
Jimmy McCarthy. The Lions infield made a trio of errors, before Heffner got a strikeout with the bases loaded the end the stanza.
Moravian starter
Thomas Mariano was perfect into the bottom of the fourth, including a nice catch by
Chris Lansberry to save a
Mark Minnig liner. Hecker finally broke it up with a triple that bounced past Lansberry, and Boll knocked him in.
Okonski launched a homer to left-center in the bottom of the fifth, scoring Santone.
In the bottom of the sixth,
Max Dundore singled in Minnig to start a rally. Santone doubled in Boll and sophomore
Ben Vitelli also knocked in a run as the Lions cut the deficit to 16-6.
Albright is 11-12 on the season, and resumes Commonwealth Conference play with a three-game set against Widener that begins on the road Friday.
