Albright Men's Lacrosse Wins ECAC Mid-Atlantic Title

Box Score

The Albright College men's lacrosse team started fast and carried it to the end, never trailing in a 15-10 ECAC Mid-Atlantic championship game win over visiting Frostburg State University.

The Lions, playing their fifth home playoff game in just their second season of existence, win their first postseason title and finish the 2013 campaign with a record of 15-4.

Sophomore T.J. Holston was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, totaling nine points (four goals, five assists) over two contests and adding three caused turnovers in the championship game.

Ryan Turner scored four times, while Darian Meador and freshman Johnny Moore tallied twice each. Philip Potter had a goal and two assists, while Joe Devinney forced five turnovers on the defensive end.

The Lions led 4-0 after less than six minutes, after a scoring run that began with Holston's riser and ended with Justin Brown's physical move to the cage.

In between, faceoff man Meador scored twice in a span of 28 seconds, four minutes into the contest.

Mike Southwick and Moore scored late in the first as Albright led 6-1 after the opening period. It was 7-1 as Potter found Turner with a nice pass across the goalmouth, 28 seconds into the second quarter.

Potter completed a nice solo spin move to make it 8-2, and Moore was credited with a goal after his shot was saved but scrambled into the net following a battle for the ground ball.

Turner tallied three times in a span of less than two minutes to help the Lions pull away. He scored twice in the final 54 seconds of the third quarter, and then finished off a rebound 59 seconds into the fourth.

In addition to putting 15 shots past the Frostburg goaltender, the Lions also hit four pipes. Freshman Matthew Lomady ripped two shots off the underside of the crossbar, and Andrew Poitras hit the bar midway through the fourth quarter.
