Box Score
Sophomore
Austin Phillips scored in overtime to cap a wild finish as the Albright College men's soccer team defeated Berkeley (NJ) 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night.
The Lions were playing the New Jersey team from Berkeley College, which sponsors teams in both New Jersey and New York.
It was the second consecutive year that Phillips bested these Jersey opponents. Albright had a tough time with Berkeley last fall, beating the Knights 1-0 at home. Phillips had scored the lone goal in that game, off an assist from current senior
Tyler Waters.
There were four goals scored from the 88th minute on in an action-packed finale.
Chris Bucks brought Albright back in the 88th minute, ripping a shot into the high netting to tie the contest at 2-2.
Sophomore
Brad Wood then scored the apparent winning goal on a header with 30 seconds left on the clock. But the Lions committed a foul in the box as time expired, and
Ramon Arce converted the penalty kick to send the game into overtime.
It took just 2:17 seconds for Phillips to end it in overtime, off an assist from senior
Shawn Murphy. Murphy had also assisted on Wood's goal as well.
The Lions improve to 4-2 overall and will host the University of Scranton next Saturday at 8 p.m.
