READING, Pa. – The Albright women's soccer team will look to break over the five hundred mark for the first time this season, when it hosts Commonwealth Conference rival Alvernia University Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Shirk Stadium. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but was moved due to inclement weather.
The game will be streamed live on
http://albright.ezstream.com/, with Steve Degler calling all the action.
The Lions sit at 6-6-1 after a 4-0 win over Lycoming on Saturday, it's the third time in 2014 the team has reached the break- even point, only to fall in its previous two opportunities. Albright has won four straight at Shirk Stadium, and have gone 3-1-1 in its last five games including a 2-1 record in Commonwealth Conference play. The Lions sit in third place behind undefeated Messiah and Stevenson who lead the league with 3-0 records.
The Crusaders enter the contest having dropped five of its last six with a 5-8 record overall and a 1-1 mark in the conference. A year ago Alvernia scored 4-1 victory at home over Albright.
The Lions are led by sophomore
Emily Sousa, who scored twice in the win on Saturday, with eight goals and 18 points on the season. Sousa is only a goal shy of the nine she registered in her first year on campus.
Natalie Wilson,
Rebecca Sartorio and
Karis Pennington have all netted three goals on the season.
Taylor Landis is the leading goal scorer for Alvernia with four and Shannon Browne has three goals and three assists for a team leading nine points.
