The Albright College men's lacrosse team will look to defend its ECAC Mid-Atlantic championship this weekend in Frostburg, Md., after coming within one goal of an NCAA tournament berth.

The Lions (11-6, 6-2 Commonwealth) faced third-ranked and defending national champion Stevenson in Saturday night's Commonwealth Conference championship game, taking an 8-7 lead in third quarter of a tough 11-10 loss.

Albright was then given the second seed in this year's ECAC playoffs and will face Marymount at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the semifinals.

Marymount University, the lowest seed in the tournament, easily defeated the similarly-named Marywood University 13-4 yesterday in Scranton, Pa. Matt Justice led the Saints with a hat-trick while Connor Kellogg, Nico Burns and Jimmy Wendell scored twice each.

Marymount (9-7, 1-6 CAC) entered the ECAC tournament on a four-game losing streak but the Capital Athletic Conference squad has navigated a difficult schedule. The Saints are 2-0 against Commonwealth teams this season, beating Messiah and Hood, while losing 11-10 to ECAC top seed Frostburg State and playing #12 York to within four goals. Their final three regular season opponents were all nationally-ranked at one point this season as well.

Frostburg State (13-5, 4-3 CAC), another Capital Athletic team, is seeking a rematch in the ECAC final after losing 15-10 in Shirk Stadium in last year's deciding game. The Bobcats defeated St. Mary's in consecutive games before falling to #1 Salisbury 12-6 in the conference semifinals.

FSU rang up 48 goals in last year's ECAC tournament, including a 24-15 semifinal victory over Centenary in Shirk Stadium. Senior Ryan Serio had 11 goals over three games as part of a 43-goal campaign. Current junior Devin Colegrove is back after totaling 13 points (eight goals, five assists) in last year's ECAC contests.

Albright's T.J. Holston was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after Albright defeated Frostburg last year, totaling nine points (four goals, five assists) over two contests and adding three caused turnovers in the championship game. Ryan Turner scored four times in the title game.

Frostburg State will face Richard Stockton (13-6, 3-3 NJAC) in their Saturday semifinal, with a noon start. Stockton won their first round game 7-6 at Lebanon Valley despite being shut out for the entire second half. After the Dutchmen erased a 6-4 halftime deficit, senior Cal Sebor struck in the final seconds of overtime for the winning goal.

The result guarantees that Albright will not face LVC in a third straight postseason, after also playing Widener for three consecutive years in the playoffs.

The Lions have played Stockton in the 2012 and 2013 regular seasons, winning 12-10 at home and following that with a 23-10 triumph last year. Holston had nine points (five goals, four assists) in the latter meeting.

Saturday's semifinal winners will meet at 2 p.m. on Sunday for the Mid-Atlantic championship.
