READING, Pa. -- The weather provded to be prophetic on Saturday as on a rainy, dreary afternoon the Albright College football team could not get untracked against Lycoming in the 64th Annual Pretzel Bowl and fell to the Warriors 26-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference opener for both schools in Shirk Stadium.
What started as an early opportunity to knock off one of the favorites to capture the MAC Championship quickly turned into a frustrating afternoon for the Lions. Albright could muster only 114 yards of total offense against the Lycoming defense and turned the ball over three times, while the Warriors accumulated 377 yards of total offense.
Craig Needhammer rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown, while quarterback Tyler Jenny threw for 213 yards and two scores to pace the Lycoming offensive attack.

Ryan Wade was 3-10 for 26 yards and threw one interception and backups
Mike Knight and Pat Wise combined to complete 2-8 passes for 22 yards and one interception.
Trey Faust had 38 yards rushing to lead the Lions ground game and
Malik Gilmore caught three passes for 25 yards.
Hunter Riggs had nine tackles and a pass break up for Albright, while
Steve Barroso had eight tackles including a tackle for loss.
Jamal Hayden had two sacks and
Mark Capetola had five tackles and two tackles for loss.
Lycoming got on the board in the first quarter after taking advantage of a roughing the kicker penalty after Albright had halted a Warrior drive at midfield. Devon Flynn got Lycoming on the scoreboard with a 17-yard field goal for a 3-0 Warrior lead.
Jenny hooked up with Ryan Umpleby for a 24-yard score early in the second quarter to extend the Lycoming lead to 10-0.
Needhammer rambled 35 yards for a touchdown with just over two minutes to play in the second quarter that extended the Lycoming lead to 16-0.
Jenny found Sibel from 19 yards out in the fourth quarter that pushed the lead to 23-0 and Flynn tacked on a 36-yard field goal later in the period.
Albright, which dropped to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the MAC, will visit Widener on Sept. 20.
