ROSTERS AND TWO-DEEP
READING, Pa. -- Having faced ranked teams in the previous two weeks, the schedule doesn't get any easier for the Albright College football team as it welcomes undefeated Stevenson into Shirk Stadium for a Middle Atlantic Conference game on Saturday (Sept. 27) at 1 p.m. in the Lions Homecoming game.
Albright, which is currently 1-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play, faced No. 23 Lycoming at Shirk Stadium two weeks ago and then traveled to Chester, Pa., to battle No. 24 Widener last week. This week the Lions host Stevenson, which is currently 3-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play and tied for first place in the league standings.
This will mark just the third career meeting between the two schools after Stevenson instituted football beginning with the 2011 season. After the Lions handled the Mustangs 57-21 in the first game between the two schools, the last two meetings have been competitive.
In 2012, Albright topped Stevenson 29-22 in overtime and last season the Mustangs notched their first win in the series with a 24-18 victory in Owings Mills, Md.
Despite losing to Widener last week, Albright appears to have gotten its offense untracked. Junior quarterback
Patrick Wise earned his first career start and responded by going 25-36 for 265 yards and two scores.
Vinny Williams caught eight passes for 133 yards to lead the receiving corps and the Lions piled up a season-high 346 yards of total offense.
The Lions defense gave up 28 points in the first quarter before shutting down the Pride in the second and third quarters.
Rich Kuhn led the way for Albright as he recorded 3.0 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss.
Stevenson opened the season with a 40-19 non-conference victory over North Carolina Wesleyan and then recorded back-to-back MAC victories. The Mustangs topped King's 7-0 two weeks ago and held off a late Lebanon Valley rally to defeat the Dutchmen 20-14 last week.
Included among the halftime activities for Homecoming include the introduction of the newest members of the Albright Athletic Hall of Fame. Rachel Cantwell (swimming), Nick Cushman (football), Kurtis Krebs (baseball) and Thomas Olivo (football) will be introducted to the crowd at halftime and will be formally inducted following the game.
