READING, Pa. -- The Albright women's lacrosse team will host Buffalo State at the
Spooky Nook complex, an indoor facility in Lancaster, Pa., Friday (March 6) afternoon at 5 p.m.
The game was originally scheduled for Shirk Stadium, but had to be moved due to the snowfall in the Reading area.
Albright enters the game 2-0 following road victories at Eastern and Ursinus, while the Bengals have yet to play a game this season.
Albright junior
Amanda Smith was selected as the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week in women's lacrosse on Monday after leading Albright to a pair of victories to open the 2015 season.
Smith finished the week with seven goals and added an assist for a total of eight points. She also had 11 ground balls, seven draw controls and seven caused turnovers in the two games.
The Lions used a balance attack with six players scoring at least two goals led by freshman
Sydney Nankervis who scored three times and sophomore
Danielle Carey who found the back of the net twice in an opening game 15-7 victory at Eastern.
Juniors
Erin Farrell,
Tori Meyer and Smith each had two goals and an assist, while sophomores
Jacqui Montague and
Mariah Cullen added two goals apiece in the victory.
Smith scored with 15:07 to play to
break a 7-7 tie and ignite a four-goal outburst in the Lions 11-9 victory at Ursinus on Saturday.
Smith, who finished with five goals in the game, scored twice during the decisive flurry, as did Farrell, who closed out the Albright scoring with her fourth of the season with 5:58 remaining.
Cullen and Montague both scored two goals to up their season totals to four, and Carey chipped in with two assists and is second on the team in scoring with two goals and four assists through the first two games.
Junior
Emily Hutson made 11 saves in goal for Albright to pick up her second win.
The game marks the first meeting between the Lions and the Bengals and the first time that Farrell will have a chance to compete against her older sister Meghan, who is a senior midfielder on the Buffalo State squad.
