READING, Pa. – The Albright women's lacrosse team hosts Lebanon Valley for a pivotal Commonwealth Conference match on Wednesday night (April 22) at 7 p.m. at John Gurski Stadium at Wilson High School.
Albright is 8-6 overall and has dropped two in a row and sit in a tie for sixth place with a 2-4 mark in the league. The Lions are looking to land one of the final two Commonwealth Conference Tournament spots, and advance to the conference postseason for the first time in school history.
The Dutchmen, who are 9-6 overall have clinched the third seed in the conference tournament with a 5-2 league record, falling only to the two top seeds undefeated Messiah and Stevenson.
Following its game with Lebanon Valley, Albright will end the regular season with a trip to Frederick, Md. on Saturday, (Apr. 25) to take on 0-7 Hood.
Albright would not be guaranteed, but would have an excellent opportunity to make the postseason, if it finished with a 4-4 conference mark. That would require the Lions to defeat both Lebanon Valley and Hood.
The Lions could still make it to the tournament by splitting the final two games, and finishing with a 3-5 league mark, but would require help from a number of different teams in order to advance to the postseason.
A year ago Albright closed with a three-game winning streak, but narrowly missed the postseason when it lost a three-way tiebreaker for the fourth and fifth positions.
Albright is one game behind Widener and Arcadia who are both 3-3 in the conference. The Pride host the Knights on Tuesday (Aprril 21) then head to Stevenson on Saturday, while Arcadia hosts Messiah on Saturday.
The Lions defeated the Pride 11-9 in Chester, Pa., to open the conference schedule and dropped an 11-10 decision at Arcadia. Alvernia and Lycoming are also 2-4 and tied with Albright. The Crusaders play at Messiah on Tuesday, before facing the Warriors at home on Saturday.
The Lions defeated Alvernia 10-7 and lost on Saturday 14-13 at Lycoming.
Senior
