MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The Albright women's swimming team defeated Misericordia, 95-65, while being defeated by host Messiah, 105-63, on Saturday at the Messiah Messiah Natatorium in a MAC tri-meet.
The 200 freestyle relay team of
Sammy Murphy,
Ashlyn Chermol,
Alexis Willis and
Julia Wadding won in 1:42.23.
The Lions received first place finishes from Chermol in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.25 and in the 200 butterfly in 2:14.66.
A pair of freshmen took top honors for Albright with
Alexis Willis winning the 50 freestyle in 25.45 and
Julia Wadding won the 200 backstroke in 2:16.05. Wadding also swam the 100 backstroke in 1:03.00 on her way to a second place finish.
Senior
Sam Hand also earned a win for the Lions winning the 500 freestyle in 5:35.63. Hand also finished second overall in the 1000 freestyle in 11:22.74 and third in the 200 butterfly in 2:21.79.
Dayne Martin finished fourth overall in the 100 fly (1:06.79), while also placing fifth in the 200 fly (2:31.57).
Carly Jablonski finished in third in the 100 backstroke in 1:15.45, while
Corrine Freeland finished in fifth in 1:17.33.
Madeline Hudson led three Lion swimmers in the 200 breaststroke finishing second in 2:47.05. Freeland earned third place after touching the wall in 2:47.72. Jessica Zamora was the final Albright swimmer to finish in the top-five completing the event in 2:52.92.
Hudson also finished third in the 200 IM in 2:28.57 and fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.57.
The Lions next travel to York, Pa., to compete in the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships starting on February 9 and continues until the 12th.
