READING, Pa. – The Albright Lions women's soccer team will host the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen in the play-in game of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m.
Tickets: All Albright students will be admitted free to the game thanks to the Student Affairs Division. The MAC mandates the prices for adults at $5, senior citizens at $4, Students (with valid ID) and children $2, and for children under 6 with an adult are free. All tickets can be purchased at the gate.
Live Coverage: The Albright sports information office will provide live video and live stats for the game. Live updates will also be available throughout the game on the official Twitter feed for Albright athletics (@AlbrightLions).
MAC Commonwealth Tournament: Albright is the No. 4 seed in the tournament and faces the No. 5 seed Lebanon Valley. Widener earned the No. 3 seed and will travel to face the No. 2 seed Arcadia on Thursday at 7 p.m. No. 1 seed Messiah will host the winner of Albright-Lebanon Valley on Thursday at 7 p.m. The winners of the semifinal matchups on Thursday will play in the championship game on Saturday at the highest remaining seed.
Records: Albright enters the tournament with a 10-7-1 overall record with a 4-3-1 mark in conference play. The Lions have dropped two straight games in the past week which followed a five game winning streak and six game non-losing streak. Lebanon Valley ended the regular season at 8-5-3 overall behind a 4-4 record in league action. The Dutchmen have lost three straight games after winning three in a row in mid-October.
Scouting the Lions: Albright is second in the MAC Commonwealth in scoring defense, allowing just 15 goals this season. In net, junior
Alexis Tunney has tallied nearly 1,500 minutes in goal and ranks among the league leaders in every major statistical category. She has posted a 0.89 goals-against average (GAA), which is second best in the conference, and tallied 84 saves while starting in 16 games. Senior
Crissy Terraces leads the team and ranks seventh in the MAC Commonwealth with six goals and ranks second in the conference with five game-winning goals.
Lions in the Playoffs: Albright has made the MAC Commonwealth Tournament in four straight years and five times in the last six seasons overall. This is the first time the Lions have hosted a MAC Commonwealth Tournament game, and are looking for their first-ever MAC Commonwealth Tournament win.
Scouting the Dutchmen: Lebanon Valley ranks among the top-five in the conference with 32 goals and 88 points, respectively. Junior Rileigh Jo Evitts ranks fifth in the conference in goals with 11 and second in shots per game at 4.80 and Senior Meghan Ross ranks fifth in the conference with seven assists. Freshman goalkeeper Emma Strickler has posted a 1.14 GAA in 15 games.
The Dutchmen in the Playoffs: Lebanon Valley has appeared in eight-straight MAC Commonwealth Tournament appearances with its last appearance in the finals coming in 2011.
Series: Since 1996, the Dutchmen hold the series lead with a 17-6-3 record which includes three MAC Tournament wins over the Lions.
Last Meeting: Albright posted a 1-0 overtime victory versus Lebanon Valley during the regular season on Oct. 7
th. Terraces scored the game's lone goal at the 92:03 mark of the game to give the Lions their first win over the Dutchmen since the 2013 season. The game winner came on the Lions only shot on goal in the contest. Tunney made two saves in her fourth of six shutouts this season.
Head Coaches: Pat Stanco has posted a 114-108-24 record in 13 seasons as the head coach of Albright. He is currently the winningest women's soccer coach in Albright history, and has now led the Lions to back-to-back double digit win seasons. This is the eighth time he has led the Lions to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament after leading the program to its first appearance in 2006.
Leah McDermott is in her first season as the head coach of Lebanon Valley. Prior to her time at Lebanon Valley, she was the head coach at Lancaster Bible College for two seasons after being an assistant at Bucknell for three seasons.
Up Next: The winner will advance to the semifinals of the MAC Commonwealth Tournament in Grantham, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, Nov. 2 and will face top-seeded Messiah at 7 p.m.
