The Albright Lions football team will travel to face Lycoming on Saturday afternoon for their final away game of the regular season.

The Lions were defeated 51-12 by King's last Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs built a 27-0 lead just before halftime behind a strong running game, and multiple turnovers. Albright scored its first touchdown with 1:15 left in the first half, but King's quickly raced down the field to kick a field goal to go up 30-6 at half. The Monarchs opened the second half with a touchdown drive and went up 37-6. The Lions added one more touchdown after the Monarchs scoring drive, but that would be the rest of the points they would score in the game. King's amassed 466 rushing yards as a team in the contest.

The Warriors are coming off a bye week. Two weeks ago, Lycoming easily dispatched Misericordia by a score of 44-16. The Warriors dominated from start to finish against the Cougars as they ran off 44 unanswered points in the first three quarters of the game. Lycoming used a balanced offense to pull away early from the Cougars with 286 yards through the air, and 183 on the ground.

THE LAST MATCHUP
This will be the first meeting between the teams since the 2017 season due to the MAC football schedule format. The Lions rallied to defeat the Warriors on the road, 21-17. Lycoming jumped on the Lions early by taking a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Down 17-7 at half, Albright scored a pair of touchdowns to steal the win over the Warriors. Former Lion wide receiver Mike Jordan hauled in a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback Alec Vignola.

ANOTHER ONE
Senior wide receiver Malik Bootman added another touchdown to his team-leading total against King's last Saturday. Bootman scored the Lions first touchdown of the contest late in the second quarter, and now leads the team with four rushing touchdowns. He also has grabbed four receiving touchdowns as well this season, and ranks second on the team with 27 receptions. Bootman leads the Lions in scoring with 48 total points, and has now scored a touchdown in five of seven games this season. Bootman also blocked a Monarchs extra point last Saturday on special teams.

CONSISTENCY
Senior wide receiver Kevin Zehner caught a touchdown pass in the second half for the Lions last Saturday against King's. It was his fourth touchdown reception of the season, and he finished with three catches for 48 yards. Zehner leads the team and ranks fourth in the MAC with 430 receiving yards on the season as he looks for his second-straight All-MAC accolade following earning second team honors in 2019.

SETTING THE MARK
Senior linebacker Sam Viera registered a new career-high in tackles last Saturday against King's. Viera posted 17 tackles (one solo) versus the Monarchs which topped his previous career-high of 16 that was matched twice. He currently ranks second in the MAC and on the team with 74 tackles this season, and is well on pace to pass his previous career-high of 78 tackles set back in the 2019 season. He has now recorded double-digit tackles in three-straight games, and four out of the last five contests overall.

HEATING UP
Junior wide receiver Lucas Roselli led all Lions in receptions and receiving yards against King's over the weekend. Roselli caught five passes for a career-high 84 yards in the contest against the Monarchs. He also tallied his longest career reception of 34 yards in the second quarter as well. Roselli has caught at least three passes in three-straight contests, and has led the team in receiving yards in two of the last three contests. His strong stretch has lifted him to rank second on the team in receiving yards with 271.

GOOD IN THE AIR
The Lions secondary continued to prove to be a strength of the team against King's by allowing just 52 passing yards. It was the fifth time in seven games this season that Albright has not allowed more than 100 passing yards to their opponent. They now rank second in the MAC in passing yards allowed at 124.1. The Lions also rank third in the conference in fewest passing yards allowed with 869.

MAKING A NAME
Sophomore linebacker Javontae Wayman continued to impress during Albright's matchup against King's last Saturday. Wayman registered a career-high 13 tackles (four solo) and 1.5 tackles for loss. He now has posted 3.0 tackles for loss in his last three contests after not having any during the first four games of the season. This was also Wayman's second double-digit tackle output of the season after posting 10 against Salisbury in the season opener.
