ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced the football All-Conference teams on Wednesday afternoon, and the Albright Lions had two players recognized for their fantastic seasons. Sam Viera was named to the MAC defensive first team and Ryan Rapp was named to the MAC defensive second team.

Senior linebacker Sam Viera and senior defensive lineman Ryan Rapp were named to the All-MAC conference defensive first and second teams, respectively. Viera and Rapp both broke longstanding school records during the 2022 season. Viera is now in sole possession of first place for career tackles in Albright's football history with 385 tackles. Rapp now holds the most sacks in a single season with 12.5 in Albright's football history.

Viera was named to the All-MAC defensive first team as a linebacker. In addition to breaking the career tackle record at Albright, Viera led the MAC in tackles for the 2022 season with 121. The tackle total of 121 is 20 more than the next closest tackler in the MAC. Viera had 10 or more tackles in eight of the ten games played this year. For Viera this is his second all conference honor after being named to the MAC defensive second team back in 2019.

Rapp was named to the All-MAC defensive second team as a defensive end. Rapp etched his name in Albright's history earning the most sacks in a single season with 12.5. The sack total of 12.5 is tied for the most of any MAC player this season. Rapp turned things on as the season wore on, earning at least one sack in each of the last five games of the season. In a three game stretch from October 15 to October 29, Rapp registered nine sacks propelling him to All-Conference honors.
