MAC Announces Women’s Tennis Preseason Poll

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Albright Women's Tennis team will return to the court this Spring and was selected to finish fifth in the MAC Commonwealth preseason poll as voted upon by the league's head coaches and announced by the conference on Friday morning.

The Lebanon Valley Women's Tennis team was tabbed as the preseason favorite receiving five of the eight first place votes. York (Pa.) and Alvernia were picked to finish second and third, respectively.

Rounding out the top five is Messiah and Albright who were selected to finish fourth and fifth, respectively. Messiah narrowly edged out Alright in the preseason poll receiving just four more points than Albright.

The Spring season will start on Saturday, March 4 when the Lions pay a visit to non-conference opponent Penn State Abington. The first home match for the Lions will take place on Wednesday, March 22 against Bryn Mawr College.

MAC Commonwealth play will commence on Saturday, April 1 against York College (Pa.) on the road. Shortly thereafter on Tuesday, April, 4 Lebanon Valley comes to town for the first MAC Commonwealth home match of the Spring season.

In total, the Spring season features 13 different matches, seven of which against other MAC Commonwealth member institutions as well as six home matches and seven road matches.

During the Fall portion of the season, the women's tennis team went 4-1 with wins against Penn State Berks, Muhlenberg, Lancaster Bible College and Lycoming.
