READING, Pa. – The Albright football team is set for their 2023 home opener against #24 Delaware Valley. Saturday's meeting will be the 58
th time that the two institutions will square off in their respective program's history. Delaware Valley leads the all-time series over Albright 38-19. Saturday's game will serve as the first Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game for both teams this season.
Both teams had a similar week one with both going on the road playing against ranked opponents and suffering loses in the process. Albright fell to #8 Hardin-Simmons and Del Val fell to #17 SUNY-Cortland.

Saturday's game will mark the first trip to Reading for the Aggies since the 2019 season.
Albright kicks off their home portion of the schedule on Saturday against Delaware Valley in one of five home games this season. Albright is searching for their first home win since the 2019 season when the Lions defeated Lebanon Valley College 28-23 at Shirk Stadium on November 16.
Saturday's game marks the second time in the last three seasons that Albright has opened their home schedule with a ranked opponent.
The Lions are looking for their first win over the Aggies since the 2016 season. In 2016, Albright went on the road and beat Delaware Valley 20-17 on their way to an eight-win season.

2023 DELAWARE VALLEY STATS (Through week one)
The defending 5X MAC Champion Aggies enter Saturday's game ranked as the number 24 team in the country. Delaware Valley was on the road in week one and fell to #17 SUNY-Cortland 42-13.
The loss for the Aggies snapped a 28-game regular season win streak dating back to September 14, 2019. With the loss, the Aggies are beginning their season 0-1 for the first time since the 2018.
In the MAC Coaches' Preseason Poll, the Aggies were selected as the favorite and picked to repeat as MAC Champions.
Del Val returns their starting quarterback Louie Barrios IV who earned first team All-MAC honors throwing for over 2,300 yards and 20 touchdowns last year. Barrios IV will be joined by his backfield mate, Jay White who also received first team All-MAC honors last season.
The Aggies defense is less familiar after they graduated four starters along the defensive line as well as two safeties in the backfield. The Del Val Linebacking core stays intact returning their top three linebackers from last year who finished 1, 2, and 3 on the team for tackles.
