Shaun Weaver Named Head Football Coach; Isaac Collins Named Director of Admissions

On Monday afternoon, head football coach Isaac Collins accepted the role of Director of Admissions at Albright. As a result, Shaun Weaver has been named head football coach at Albright.

READING, PA. – The Albright athletics department has announced changes to the football coaching staff for the upcoming 2025 football season and beyond. After spending three seasons on the sidelines as head football coach, Isaac Collins has accepted the Director of Admissions position at Albright. As a result, former Albright defensive coordinator Shaun Weaver will be returning to Albright to become the next head coach of the Albright football program.

On Monday, November 25, Albright Athletics announced the hiring of Shaun Weaver as the 21st head football coach in Albright history. Coach Weaver spent four full seasons at Albright in various roles, including defensive coordinator, special team's coordinator, defensive line coach, and recruiting coordinator. Prior to returning to Albright, Weaver spent the 2024 football season at Division II Frostburg State as the team's defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator.

"I would like to thank Coach Collins for the past three years. His tireless work ethic and relentless determination have set the program up for success. He put a culture in place that will live beyond his time as coach here," Said Athletic Director, Rick Ferry, "We are excited to have coach Weaver come and pick up the work that coach Collins has already implemented. We think both of these moves will set Albright up for success for years to come."

Coach Weaver made an immediate impact at Frostburg State, coaching two defensive lineman to All-Conference First Team honors. Coach Weaver's defensive unit was instrumental in Frostburg States' 25-24 win over Division I program Mercyhurst on the way to finishing the 2024 season with six wins.

During his first stint at Albright, Weaver saw five defensive players earn All-MAC honors. Coach Weaver helped two of his former student-athletes set all-time program records. Linebacker Sam Viera became the leading tackler at Albright, while defensive end Ryan Rapp set the single-season sacks record under the guidance of Coach Weaver.

Weaver joined the Albright staff in March 2020 after spending the previous 14 years as a member of the Gettysburg College coaching staff. He served as the defensive coordinator for 13 of those seasons.

At Gettysburg, Weaver coached 18 All-Centennial Conference performers, including four that garnered first-team recognition. Additionally, two of the student-athletes were named Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Prior to coaching at Gettysburg, Weaver served as the defensive line coach at Division II Bemidji State University in Minnesota from 2004-05. He also spent two seasons coaching the defensive line and serving as the junior varsity defensive coordinator at his alma mater, Wilmington College in Ohio, from 2002-03.

Weaver holds two bachelor's degrees from Wilmington College, one in secondary education/social studies licensure and one in history. Weaver would later pursue his master's degree in sports studies from Bemidji State.
