READING, Pa. – Following a physical and exciting 90 minutes, men's soccer secured a 1-0 win over the visiting Wilson College giving coach Stanco and company and a 2-0 record to begin the season for the second year in a row.
The last time the Lions had back-to-back shutouts came in the previous season where they out scored Wilson and Valley Forge by a combined 8-0 in those games.
Both teams ended without a goal in the first half and looking to break through in the last 45 minutes of play.
After several fantastic saves and missed opportunities from both teams,
Christian Bowles would score the game winning goal for the Lions in the 78
th minute of play. With his goal in today's contest, the sophomore has already tallied three goals as well as the game winner in both matches.
First Year defensemen
Will Garnett played 55 minutes off the bench and recorded the assist off Bowles' goal for his first career assist as a Lion.
Senior goalkeeper
Chris Denholm turned in another strong performance making three saves and a number of other clutch grabs to prevent additional shots from Wilson. With a win today, Denholm picked up his 10
th career win in net.
