READING, Pa. – Albright Football (3-2, 2-2 MAC) traveled to Alvernia (0-5, 0-4 MAC) for the battle of Reading. The Lions offense put up 30+ points for the second time in as many weeks and overpowered the Golden Wolves 38-14.
From the opening kickoff, the offense dominated time of possession and ran 71 plays for 346 total yards while possessing the ball for just under 37 minutes (36:49). Five different Lion possessions would wind up being nine or more plays.
Chase Roberts connected with
Alden Stickler for a 24-yard touchdown to cap off an opening drive lasting over five minutes. Roberts finished the day with three touchdown passes to three different receivers on 14 completions.
Also throwing for a touchdown was
Logan Rothberg who found Stickler at the backend of a trick play for his second touchdown on as many catches. Rothberg caught a touchdown from Roberts the following drive to give the Lions a 21-0 lead.
Albright's defense would hold Alvernia to only 49 total yards of offense in the opening half which included allowing zero second quarter rushing yards despite nine attempts from the Golden Wolves. The Albright defense was in the Alvernia backfield all afternoon long recording seven tackles for loss and four sacks.
Samuel Moratori led with seven total tackles including 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack.
Mamadou Koita,
Daunte Morrison and
Gavin Gallo all tallied a sack on the day.
Following a 28-yard field goal from
Colin Schaeffer, the Lions would enter the locker room with a healthy 24-7 lead. The 24 first half points were the most scored in a single half by the team this season.
A 15-yard touchdown pass to cap off Alvernia's first possession of the third quarter would be the final points allowed by the Lions for the remainder of the contest.
John Boston would provide the Lions with the first of their two second half scores via a three-yard rush. Boston topped 100 rushing yards (133) for the third straight week and continues to be the focal point of a rapidly improving rushing attack.
In addition to the team's 185 rushing yards, offensive line coach
Joseph Detorie IV's unit would surrender zero sacks on the day allowing for one of the smoothest overall offensive performances of the season.
On fourth and goal from the six,
Erik Thelander would haul in his first collegiate touchdown to put the game out of reach and allow the Lions to rejoice for their third win of the season, already surpassing their total from 2024.
