YORK, Pa. – Albright baseball began conference play on Friday afternoon taking on York in the first game of the three-game series. York took game one 20-7 in nine innings to improve to 4-7 while Albright falls to 5-4.
Today marked the opening weekend of MAC Commonwealth play for the Lions. In total, Albright will play 21 conference games including today.
York's bats were clicking early in the game, scoring 13 runs in the first four innings. Alex Neeld led the Spartans with two home runs on the day.
Tommy Lewman homered in his third straight game apart of another three-hit day. Today's home run was a three-run shot in the top of the eighth inning scoring
Roman Berretta and
Christian Eckstein.
Jack Gilmer and Berretta both went 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI. The duo have been on fire to start the year in the box each having at least one hit in eight of the nine games played this season.
Sam Specht came into the game in relief for this first pitching appearance as an Albright Lion. Specht struck out four batters in four innings of work.
Michael Avino singled in the fifth inning scoring Lewman for the first-year Lions sixth RBI of the year. Avino has an RBI in three straight games.

Albright will host York College tomorrow starting at 12 p.m. with game two to follow. The first game against the Spartans will be seven innings and game two will be nine innings.
